What does the STI Test 3-in-1 include?
The STI Test 3-in-1 is specifically designed to test for three of the most common STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhoea and trichomoniasis.
The test is performed using a urine sample or vaginal self-swab, depending on your gender and the location of possible symptoms. A blood sample is sometimes also taken, but this is usually not necessary for these three STIs, as they are mainly detected through urine or mucous membrane samples.
- For men: a urine test
- For women: a vaginal swab
You will receive clear instructions to collect the sample yourself at home.
How is this STI test performed?
When ordering the test, you indicate which type of sample you want to collect (urine or swab). This depends on your gender, any symptoms you may have, and where you think you may have contracted an STI.
The test kit contains all necessary materials and clear step-by-step instructions. After collecting the sample, you send it back to the laboratory using the included return packaging. Your result will be available within a few working days in a secure online environment.
When is the best time to take an STI test?
After possible risky contact, it is important to consider the window period: the time between infection and the moment when an STI can reliably be detected. Testing too early may result in a false negative result.
Below are the recommended waiting times for each STI:
Chlamydia: detectable from 2 weeks after contact
Gonorrhoea: detectable from 2 weeks
Trichomoniasis: detectable from 4 weeks
